Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Laughter & Acceptance

"Is it tough out there? No doubt, but we all need a job. So what do you do? Find the thing that you were meant to do. Work your ass off to get it. Never stop believing. Never quit! In other words, don’t just feel special. Be Special!"

— Miles Teller, Get a Job

We set boundaries to make an effort in preserving the self. In a selfless manner, or a selfish manner, a boundary set is to gain fortitude in our current stance. Allowing growth is essential to encourage the selfish or selfless side of one’s existence to manifest the necessity of addressing growth. In growing from one boundary to the next, we allow ourselves to evolve and manifest.

Presence is the foundation we go to address, when addressing growth and boundaries. One can identify only what one knows. Knowledge is the factor that influences our boundaries the most. Being fortified in knowledge, is what creates our capacity to manage response to actions we manifest in our identities.

It is essential in our response to stay true to these identities as there is never a singular one that is the sole influence. This comes to one through avenues of thoughts explored in various mannerisms we see in our world. With all said and done, those we seek to convene with for their actions, lies rooted in the avenues yet to be explored.

Boundaries are not walls; they are a clear recognition of where one ends, and you begin. This is a phrase that builds on one of history’s great authors Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749–1832), a German poet, playwright, novelist, natural philosopher, as well as statesman. His theory on optics challenged the concurrent Newtonian thinking; light is the absence of darkness. However, Goethe believed light exists at the edge of darkness. In this, we find much more solace as it brings forth the dualistic nature of our world, highlighting that our natures do not spontaneously arise in the presence of a stimulus, but rather are nurtured into creation from stimulus.

Behaviorism and the study of human interactions work similarly. Creating connection is essential to establish rapport with others; how we do this makes or breaks an interaction. Some people make connections to be free, and others find freedom in organization.

Another bright mind of his time highlighting importance of physics + biology over introspection, something that was prevalent in his time. This mind is that of John B. Watson, founder of Behaviorism, 1878–1958. During his lifetime he saw the rise and fall of many systems of thought. Born at the time of the women’s movement in the 1880s, and lived through two world wars, he has much to offer to the field of thinking, through environmental training over the introspective heredity theories of his time.

It is important to learn from these two minds, that what we give to our environment shapes what we receive from our environment. Goethe: functional thinking, potentialities, and gives momentum to the environmental cues we learn to integrate. Though we have yet to integrate + apply knowledge, knowledge exists. It shapes minds of those we communicate with, consciously in those who delve into greater depths, and graciously in others who experience it.
